The role
Develop feasibility studies, assessments, rehabilitation solutions and preliminary and detailed designs for bridges and related infrastructure. The engineer prepares structural calculations, reports, specifications and contract documents; performs two- and three-dimensional analysis of bridges, foundations and retaining walls; develops construction details; checks drawings and coordinates structural work with other disciplines while guiding junior staff.
Requirements
Accredited civil or structural engineering degree; 5 to 10 years of bridge-design experience; Ontario P.Eng. or eligibility for licensure; consulting experience with new and rehabilitated steel and concrete bridges; knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code or AASHTO; proficiency with bridge-analysis software and AutoCAD or MicroStation; familiarity with agency approvals.
