The role
Egis is seeking a structural engineer in Ottawa to analyze and design building systems for commercial, residential and institutional projects. The engineer contributes from concept through construction by preparing calculations, drawings, specifications, tender and permit documents; coordinating architects, clients, contractors and regulatory authorities; leading structural design activities; reviewing technical outputs; supporting budgets and schedules; and completing site inspections and construction reviews for compliance with design intent, codes and safety standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering; Ontario P.Eng. designation in good standing; at least 5 years of structural building-design experience, including commercial, residential or institutional work; strong knowledge of Canadian building codes and structural standards; multidisciplinary project-delivery experience; structural software such as ETABS, SAFE, SAP, S-Frame or WoodWorks; basic Revit/BIM proficiency; technical reporting, design review and construction-document experience; valid driver’s licence and access to a registered and insured vehicle. Institutional or large commercial work, construction administration, field inspections, IPD, design-build, mentoring and an advanced structural or civil degree are assets.
