The role
Aecon is recruiting a CAD drafter for the Hamilton LRT project within its geomatics team. The position combines geomatics and advanced drafting to support planning, design, construction and asset management. It prepares and maintains Civil 3D and MicroStation drawings, surfaces, alignments and profiles; processes survey, LiDAR, GIS and geospatial data; performs coordinate and datum transformations; reviews engineering, survey and construction drawings; completes quality checks; maintains records and submittals; coordinates with surveyors, engineers, designers and project managers; and supplies survey calculations and layout data to field teams.
Requirements
Post-secondary education in geomatics, land surveying, civil engineering technology or a related field, plus at least 3 years of relevant CAD, geomatics or surveying experience. Requires experience with survey calculations, coordinate systems, datum transformations and geospatial data; knowledge of survey control and construction layout; ability to interpret shop drawings, design plans and CAD files; and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation and Microsoft Office. Bentley, Autodesk, ESRI, Trimble Business Center and point-cloud software are assets.
